Sciatica

In every movie there is one villain is always who troubles everybody. We also have one painful villain in our body known as sciatica nerve. Normally there is no pain but when an abnormal pressure due to any pathology in lumber and sacral region works on a part of sciatica nerve, it may cause trouble in the back and the limbs. The pain can be excruciating. The onset may be sudden or gradual. Repeated episodes of low backache may precede sciatica by months or years. The sciatica nerve has its root in lower back. From there it runs down to the buttocks, thighs, calf and foot. Constant aching is felt from lumber region to feet. This pain increases with coughing or straining and ameliorates by lying flat on a firm mattress. Few causes for this pain are any tumour in spinal cord, herniation of vertebral disc, rheumatism, TB or cancer of spinal cord, swelling or stiffness in spinal cord etc. patient suffers from lumbargo extending to feet, cramps in legs and occasionally tingling numbness is there. The patient is advised complete bed rest, exercise and hot fomentation. In few cases where pain is intolerable surgery is advised. But as we know homoeopathy treats the patient by improving his constitution and immunity. It is immunity that is responsible for every disease.
